Twitter this week said that it will expand its crackdown on on misinformation surrounding the election and mail-in voting.

The social network — which made waves in May when it added a fact-check label to a tweet from President Trump claiming that mail-in ballots are “substantially fraudulent” — will also increase its efforts on getting users registered for mail-in and early voting, according to Politico.

Twitter did not go into detail about what the new policies might look like, but said they will be focused on “empowering every eligible person to register and vote through partnerships, tools and new policies that emphasize accurate information about all available options to vote, including by mail and early voting.”

“Twitter is working hard to increase informed participation in democratic processes around the world,” Jessica Herrera-Flanican, Twitter’s VP for public policy said in a statement.

Jack Dorsey, the company’s CEO, said in an appearance on “The Daily” podcast last week that Twitter will “continue to evolve our policy to protect the integrity of the conversation around elections.”

That includes, he said, suspending any accounts that might engage in “particular egregious aspects of violations of the terms of service,” even if it belongs to the President of the United States.

“We won’t hesitate to take action on the accounts and use every tool that we have together with that,” Dorsey said.

“Independent of the US president or any leader around the world, we will take action if we feel it’s necessary.”
