After years of complaints and requests, Twitter has begun beta testing an edit button. The feature is currently undergoing internal trials at Twitter with paid subscribers to Twitter Blue getting access “in the coming weeks,” according to the company’s blog post.

As the name suggests, Edit Tweet will allow users to change their tweets after posting. “For this test,” Twitter says, “Tweets will be able to be edited a few times in the 30 minutes following their publication. Edited Tweets will appear with an icon, timestamp, and label so it’s clear to readers that the original Tweet has been modified.” Users will also be able to click through to see past versions of the tweet via its Edit History.

After the internal trials, Edit Tweet will be offered to Twitter Blue subscribers “localized to a single country” in order for Twitter to “learn and observe how people use Edit Tweet.”

“We’re hoping that,” the statement concludes, “with the availability of Edit Tweet, Tweeting will feel more approachable and less stressful. You should be able to participate in the conversation in a way that makes sense to you, and we’ll keep working on ways that make it feel effortless to do just that.”
