In an Anime News Network interview, director Naoko Yamada has confirmed that she is working on a new animated feature with Science SARU. Yamada made the announcement while promoting her latest anime film Garden of Remembrance at the Scotland Loves Animation festival. 

Yamada has also said that she is currently working on the storyboard for the untitled film. She believes it is a huge task on her part and has been thinking about it a lot lately. 

Garden of Remembrance is the second work from Yamada since joining Science SARU in 2021. She previously directed The Heike Story anime series and has previously worked as a key animator, in-between artist, and background artist for various Kyoto Animation projects such as Lucky Star, Kanon, Clannad, and The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. 

She has also directed K-On! The Movie, Tamako Love Story, A Silent Voice, and Liz and the Blue Bird. Yamada left Kyoto Animation in 2020 and has also directed an animated episode for the anthology series Modern Love Tokyo.

THE CHILDHOOD FRIEND displays the Anemone with care.

One day, years after I died, YOU hear noise from the closet. Opened, YOU see MY garden right in front of YOU. Overflowing emotions of ME and YOU.

When exiting from the room with memories, a picture of the Anemone that YOU painted is displayed in YOUR new room.
