Anyone on the prowl for a cheap laptop or desktop should take a flip through HP’s Black Friday 2020 ad.

The computer royalty that is HP has a pretty clear niche carved out when compared to the Black Friday offerings from Best Buy, Dell, and Lenovo. We’re seeing Intel Core i5 and AMD processors paired with storage like 512GB and 1TB for far under $1,000 — splurge combos that usually come with a steep price point. There are even opportunities to snag an all-in-one desktop and monitor hybrid for as low as $449.

HP states that the Black Friday sale, its biggest sale of the year, begins on Nov. 26 (Thanksgiving), but that may only apply to a select few doorbusters. Following the “Black Friday is this entire month” trend, HP doesn’t seem to be waiting until a specific day to cut the ribbon on most deals. Many devices are already on sale at the Black Friday price listed, but maybe HP’s current anniversary sale can be thanked for that.

We pulled out the deals we think you’ll care about, but you can delve into the whole ad here.

Laptops

OUR TOP PICK: HP Pavilion Touch Laptop (15z-eh000) — $469.99 (save $180)

This is that high-power, low-price softball that HP does so well. Its long-time trophy, the HP Pavilion, is still the lightweight everyday business laptop that everyone knows. The 2020 version is AMD-powered, has an optional touchscreen, houses 256GB SSD, and boosts audio by B&O.

Desktops and all-in-ones

OUR PICK: — $449.99 (save $100)

The portability of a laptop loses its edge when there’s little chance that you’ll ever be doing work on the fly. An all-in-one is essentially a hybrid computer, with all of the desktop’s juice built into the back of the monitor. (Like an iMac.) This particular model affords AMD Athlon power and 1TB of storage for less than $500 — less than the price of many laptops with similar specs.
