President Trump has appointed himself Monuments Man — taking it upon himself to personally circulate images of suspects accused of vandalizing an Andrew Jackson statue in the nation’s capital earlier this week.

Trump tweeted 15 flyers from the US Park Police Department requesting the public’s help to identify people accused of defacing the statue just outside of the White House Monday night.

Protesters spray-painted “killer” on the monument’s base and attempted but failed to pull down the statue.

The statue has been targeted for Jackson’s advocacy for and role in the violent displacement of Native Americans.

The statue is among several in the United States and across the world that have been damaged or toppled during the civil unrest over the police killing of George Floyd.

Trump, who did not offer any comment on the bulletins, defended the monument Monday night, calling it “magnificent.”

“Numerous people arrested in D.C. for the disgraceful vandalism, in Lafayette Park, of the magnificent Statue of Andrew Jackson, in addition to the exterior defacing of St. John’s Church across the street,” he tweeted at the time.

The president posted the flyers a day after he signed an executive order aimed at cracking down on protesters.

The order mandates harsh prison sentences and threatens to “withhold Federal support from State and local law enforcement agencies that have failed to protect public monuments, memorials, and statues from destruction or vandalism.”
