“New York City must stop the Shutdown now,” the president tweeted. “The Governor & Mayor are destroying the place!”
Cuomo and de Blasio have drawn fierce backlash for continuing to ban indoor dining, despite New York recording record-low COVID-19 infection rates.
Several politicians plan on filing a lawsuit Tuesday morning over the dining debacle.
In a follow-up tweet, Trump suggested that the shutdown in New York City was by design.
“The Democrats will open up their states on November 4th, the day after the Election,” he wrote. “These shutdowns are ridiculous, and only being done to hurt the economy prior to the most important election, perhaps, in our history! #MAGA”
