President Trump on Monday joked that if Minnesota doesn’t vote for him, he won’t return when he runs for a third, fourth, fifth or sixth term.

“If I don’t win it this time, I’m not coming back. Never. Not for term three, four or five or six,” Trump joked to a crowd in Mankato, Minn.

Trump, who is limited by the Constitution to two terms, lost to Democrat Hillary Clinton by just 1.5 percent in Minnesota in 2016 and his campaign considers the state a pickup opportunity against Democratic candidate Joe Biden.

“I almost won last time. One more speech,” Trump said. “I almost won. I went to Michigan. I had a choice. I shouldn’t tell you this, but we won Michigan. One more speech, I would have won. It was so close.”

Trump said on multiple occasions that his talk of more than two terms is only a joke.

“Congressman can we have that extended?” Trump said at a 2018 event. “You know, the last time I jokingly said that, the papers started saying, ‘He’s got despotic tendencies’. No, I’m not looking to do it.”
