Mitsubishi just announced that it will soon launch an all-new version of its popular Outlander plug-in hybrid EV (PHEV). The new Outlander is built with a new-generation PHEV system and will pack in better performance and battery life, along with more seats.

The Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV is offering better motor output for increased performance and more battery capacity for a lengthier driving range. Furthermore, its interior is optimized to hold even more passengers, now fitting seven passengers across three rows instead of just five passengers.

Although the Outlander PHEV has been available for over eight years, it’s seen several redesigns and improvements over the years including a gasoline model in North America earlier this year. This new plug-in hybrid system offers a promising future for the Outlander, and may even be used for other vehicles within the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance.

Now, this all-new PHEV version is slated to launch in Japan sometime between October 2021 and March 2022. It’s likely that Mitsubishi will ramp up production and make the intriguing vehicle available throughout North American and Europe as well.
