#Trump accuses Democrats of trying to ‘steal’ 2020 election with mail-in voting

President Trump on Thursday flipped a line from Hillary Clinton’s 2020 Democratic National Convention speech — claiming it’s Democrats who are trying to “steal the election” with their push for mail-in voting.

“This is going to be the greatest scam in history. This will be the most fraudulent election in history,” Trump said during a Fox News interview with Sean Hannity Thursday night. “It’s a terrible thing. They are trying to steal the election.”

Clinton during Wednesday night’s DNC virtual event warned Trump is trying to “steal” a victory this November.

“Joe [Biden] and Kamala [Harris] can win 3 million more votes and still lose. Take it from me,” Clinton said. “We need numbers so overwhelming Trump can’t sneak or steal his way to victory.”

But Trump argued that expanding mail-in ballot use would be a “horrible disaster” during his interview. He again called for a re-do in the tightly contested Democratic primary for New York Rep. Carolyn Maloney’s seat, the 12th Congressional District.

Maloney, a Democrat, declared victory six weeks after a primary election that was beset with mail-in ballot problems.

Maloney’s challenger, Suraj Patel, has contested the results. He’s claimed more than 12,000 mail-in votes were disqualified over issues with ballots, including lack of postcards — but he doesn’t believe ballots were lost or otherwise mishandled.

“It’s what happens to these ballots when they are sent. Who are they being sent to? Where are they going? You are talking about massive numbers,” Trump said.

“Carolyn Maloney should not be able to accept that position,” he went on. “They declared her a winner over a guy who is right now looking around saying, ‘What happened?’ He thought he won.”
