Which DC characters can the Arrowverse do without?

Boy, the Arrowverse has come a long way, hasn’t it? Starting back in 2012, an ambitious group of writers, producers, and directors have steadily built a string of superhero shows on The CW. These originated with the drama Arrow and eventually expanded into The Flash, Supergirl, Legends of Tomorrow, Black Lightning, and Batwoman.

Featuring frequent crossovers and interconnected storylines while maintaining a distinct tone for each entry, this array of series is often compared to the Avengers films. Many feel that it has done a better job crafting a shared universe than DC’s big-screen efforts of late. Lacking a proper title for many years, the franchise is affectionately referred to as the “Arrowverse.”

It’s not all sunshine and rainbows, however. When you’re dealing with such a vast collection of comics and adapting this many characters, you’re bound to run into a few duds, and the Arrowverse has had some real stinkers over the years.

To be clear, these characters aren’t bad because they’re not faithful to their comic counterparts. No, these people suck because they simply don’t work within the context of their own tale. They fail to muster up any entertainment or interest from the audience; they stumble in what they’re meant to do, either thematically or narratively; and they annoy you to the point of dragging down the whole show. These are more cardinal sins than simply cutting a costume or omitting part of a backstory.

With that said, let’s take a look at some of those very characters who have plagued the Arrowverse.
