Since the New Orleans legend has often been disconnected from music culture for the past decade, it’s worth asking if he’s even seen West’s “Famous” video or a bunch of the other cultural moments that Durk nods to.
The nostalgic visual compiled over six million views throughout the weekend and finds Durk paying tribute to unforgettable looks and props stained in our brains from West’s “Runaway” video, the “I Love It” oversized suit, his MAGA phase, interview with Sway, the “Bound 2” motorcycle, interrupting Taylor Swift at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards and more.
Durk returned last Friday (January 29) to unleash the deluxe edition to his The Voice project, which added a 12 additional tracks to the original and should earn the Chicago native another lofty placement on the Billboard 200. During its full first week of sales, The Voice landed at No. 3 on the Billboard 200, Durk’s highest effort to date.
As for Wayne, he’s stayed busy amid 2020’s turbulence and ended up releasing or being part of more than 50 songs in total for the calendar year. Following the release of his “Ain’t Got Time” single, fans can expect Weezy to keep heating up the streets in 2021.
