Top 10 Anime Top 10s of the 2010s

#10: 10 Tearjerkers That’ll Empty the Tissue Box, by Anime News Network

Anime News Network’s “The List” column typically only features 5-7 entries per list, which appropriately reflects the level of ANN’s commitment to anime. That said, they did include 10 entries on this list of the best tearjerker anime to masturbate to, and I appreciate their honesty on that front.

#9: 10 Best Anime of Summer 2019, by Mother’s Basement

Sure, Mother’s Basement may get most of his views from his analysis of anime openings and endless videos on why Sword Art Online is shitty, but for my money there’s nothing more entertaining than seeing him desperately try to fill out a seasonal top 10 list by including shows like Cop Craft and Do You Love Your Mom And Her Two Hit Multi-Target Attacks. It’s a good reminder that really, sometimes anime just sucks, but you gotta put out content somehow anyway.

#8: August 2016 Top 10 Anime Character Rankings, by Newtype

Newtype’s readers have voted on the best anime character every single month, and yet they have only managed to get the correct list once, in August 2016, when they voted into first place the two greatest anime characters of all time, Ikoma and Mumei from Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress. To this day, those two stand out as the most distinctive and memorable anime characters of all time. It is baffling that Newtype’s readers have failed to honor them again since Kabaneri stopped airing.

#7: Top 10 Saddest Anime Deaths, by WatchMojo

On the rare occasion when WatchMojo decides to release a top 10 list, you pay attention. This is an iconic list, and perhaps the first thing people think of when they think of anime lists. This list gathers a unique selection of deaths from Fullmetal Alchemist, Code Geass, and Death Note, as well as Ace’s death from One Piece. This is an outstanding, one of a kind list.

#6: Top 10 Soul Crushing Anime Deaths, by WatchMojo

On the rare occasion when WatchMojo decides to release a top 10 list, you pay attention. This is an iconic list, and perhaps the first thing people think of when they think of anime lists. This list gathers a unique selection of deaths from Fullmetal Alchemist, Code Geass, and Death Note, as well as Ace’s death from One Piece. This is an outstanding, one of a kind list.

#5: Top 10 Anime Deaths That Still Hurt, by WatchMojo

On the rare occasion when WatchMojo decides to release a top 10 list, you pay attention. This is an iconic list, and perhaps the first thing people think of when they think of anime lists. This list gathers a unique selection of deaths from Fullmetal Alchemist, Code Geass, and Death Note, as well as Ace’s death from One Piece. This is an outstanding, one of a kind list.

#4: Anime Maru’s Top 10 Anime of 2016, by Bob_Squob

Hey, have you heard about this “Anime Maru” website? It’s
sort of like the Onion, but for anime. Anyway, they put out inarguably the best
journalism in anime, and I say that from a completely unbiased perspective.
This article in particular is really good, you should click on the link, then
maybe refresh the page a few hundred times. Also donate to their Patreon, which
is a thing that they have for some reason.

#3: Top 10 Anime Male Lead Who Look Loser But Strong as Hell Pt. 3, by Otaku Sensei

Otaku Sensei is a relative newcomer to the scene, putting out his first video only 8 months ago. Despite this, Otaku Sensei has established himself as inarguably a top 10 Top 10 video maker on YouTube, putting out essential content like “Top 10 Dark Anime Where Main Character Ain’t No Pus#y,” and “Top 10 Anime Where Many Girl Dream For Same Guy!”

His most important contribution is his dedication to Top 10 lists showcasing the various subtleties of strong male lead protagonists with glowing eyes. He’s so dedicated he puts out a new top 10 on the same subject nearly every single week! Truly an inspiration.

#2: Top 10 Anime Bathing Scenes of 2014, by Watermaiden15

This list is a pure work of art. In a mere 10 entries,
Watermaiden15 captures the essence of what anime is about and why it appeals to
so many people. It also got /r/anime banned from /r/all, which is a public
service in and of itself.

#1: Top 10 Anime of the Decade, by [REDACTED]

Lots of websites and bloggers have put
out lists of the top 10 anime of this decade, but only one of them got the list
exactly correct. Unfortunately, viewing the correct list with your mere human
eyes would cause madness from the realization that there is in fact one perfect
and objective anime taste that you could never possess. For the safety and
sanity of our readership, we have locked the list in a vault, never to be
spoken of again. Congratulations to [REDACTED] for their amazing list!
