serpentwithfeet has released “Safe Word,” a new song set to feature on his upcoming album Grip. The song, an intimate acoustic R&B track that spotlights the vocalist’s delicate falsetto, comes with a video directed by serpent and Micaiah Carter. Check it out below.

In a statement, serpentwithfeet says, “‘Safe Word’ is a sensual song about the beauty of trust that’s been earned and the wonder that follows when partners explore each other with care.”

“Safe Word” follows the release of Ty Dolla $ign collaboration “Damn Gloves” last year. Grip, the third serpentwithfeet album, will be released on February 16.

In 2023 serpentwithfeet previewed new music as part of Heart Of Brick, a theatrical experience comprising music and dance which opened in Hamburg before transferring to New York.

His most recent album was 2021’s Deacon. Since then he has contributed music to the soundtrack of A24 movie The Inspection and appeared on new albums by Björk and Daniel Caesar.
