#Tom Brady jokes about upgrade after iPhone 6 revelation

The 43-year-old Florida man is contemplating an overdue smartphone upgrade for his birthday after it was revealed on Saturday that Brady is still using an antiquated iPhone 6 plus.

“Thank you for the bday wishes!! Might treat myself to a new iPhone this year…,” the Buccaneers quarterback wrote cheekily in a quote-tweet of the NFL’s birthday wishes.

Brady, who recently joined the Tampa-based squad after two decades in New England, is entering his 21st year in the league. He inked a two-year, fully guaranteed $50 million contract in March and has an estimated net worth of $200 million.

“New beginnings in year 21. Happy 43rd birthday, @TomBrady!” the NFL’s official Twitter account wrote with a goat emoji on Monday.

The initial revelation came after Brady posted a photo of his car’s screen that showed a sweltering 99-degree temperature, as well as the device to which it was tethered. The iPhone 6 and 6 plus, which were released in September 2015, are five generations behind the current models and lack many useful features such as Face ID, haptic feedback, water resistance and multiple lenses.

Acquiring a newer model certainly isn’t cost-prohibitive for an athlete worth in excess of nine figures, which led some on social media to speculate if the model’s number carries sentimental significance for the six-time Super Bowl champion.

Aside from possibly indulging in newer tech, Brady will ring in 43 with his children and supermodel wife, Gisele Bündchen, who posted a sentimental birthday wish on Instagram on Monday.
