Police are searching for a New York City man who was caught in a video punching a young man and spewing homophobic slurs, according to multiple reports.

The 24-year-old man was reportedly dancing with a friend for a TikTok video when a white man in a white shirt and black shorts walked up and attacked him.

Video released by WABC-TV shows the man walking up while a woman holds her arms up to protect her friend behind her. The attacker had earlier called the man an anti-gay slur, and the two had an argument, according to the report.

The attacker walks around the woman to punch the victim in the face. The victim turns around and starts walking away, and the attacker punches him on his head from the back. The woman holds the attacker’s hand from the back to try and stop him.

The victim sustained a laceration on his lip and a bloody nose during the incident, which took place on Saturday in lower Manhattan. The New York Police Department’s hate crime unit is investigating this as a bias-motivated attack.
