#Tiger & Bunny Writer Masafumi Nishida Helms Water Polo-themed Original TV Anime RE-MAIN

It is confirmed today that Masafumi Nishida, best known as the series composition writer for the TV anime Tiger & Bunny, will serve as the original story writer, general director, series composition writer, screenplay writer for all episodes, and sound director for the forthcoming water polo-themed original TV anime RE-MAIN. Kiyoshi Matsuda (Kumamiko) is attached to direct, MAPPA (Yuri!!! on ICE) will work on production. The anime is set to premiere sometime in 2021.

Story introduction:

The protagonist is Minato Kiyomizu, who quit playing water polo in the winter of his third year of junior high school after an incident. He enters a high school and one promise leads to him starting playing water polo with the friends he met there. However, the weak and small water polo club is faced with a variety of difficulties…

Message from Masafumi Nishida:

After turning 40 years old, I had a night when I suddenly looked back on my life. Then I realized that the time I spent swimming and playing water polo in junior high and high school had an impact on my view of life. That night, I began to feel that I wanted to create a story that would touch the hearts of middle and high school students. This series just started moving with that passion. I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to MAPPA and Bandai Namco Arts for deciding to work with me on a “water polo” work that deals with water, which is considered difficult to depict in animation. I will swim to the end with Mr. Matsuda and the rest of the wonderful staff, and Mr. Kamimura and the rest of the wonderful cast!
