#Three-year-old cleverly smuggles her pet fish to school in sippy cup

When one mom got a call in the middle of the day, from the pre-school her three- year-old attended, she never expected to be told the child had smuggled in the family pet.

Mom of two, Lauren Scanlan, who lives in Pennsylvania was in hysterics to discover that her little girl Peyton, has smuggled their pet fish into school.

Lauren told how she got a call from the director of Peyton’s school to reveal that the mom had in fact dropped off two family members.

“The director called, wanting to know if I knew that Peyton had brought her fish to school in her sippy cup,” the mum told TODAY Parents.

While in hysterics, she added: “I said no, I had no idea that Peyton had brought her fish in a sippy cup. I was mortified. I didn’t know what to say.”

The mom went on to text her cousin Conor about the little girl’s crafty antics, and after he tweeted the hilarious incident, Peyton with her fish in a sippy cup went viral.

The mom explained how the little girl pulled off bringing the pet fish, who she has named mermaid, to school.

While she was busy getting her daughter’s school clothes ready before school, Peyton was feeding her pet.

“When I came back down she said, ‘Don’t come over here.’ I asked why, and she said, ‘Just don’t come,’” Lauren said. “That gets suspicious.”

The mom said she noticed her daughter had spilt some fish food on the ground and figured that was what her daughter was hiding.

“I told her it’s OK, that I would clean up, and then I didn’t think anything of it,” she explained. “Peyton put her water in her backpack and we went to school.”

It was a mere hour later when the mum received the call that revealed what her daughter was really up to.
