#Three more victims of Florida building collapse identified

Police on Saturday identified three of the victims discovered in the rubble of the Florida condo collapse, including a father of two and a married couple who had been together for nearly 60 years.

Antonio and Gladys Lozano, ages 83 and 79, and Manuel “Manny” LaFont, 54, died in the disaster, Miami-Dade Police said in a Facebook post on Saturday night.

The elderly couple’s grandson, Brian Lozano, said they were married for 59 years — and always argued over who would die first, because neither wanted to live without the other, ABC News reported.

“It’s tragic but it’s strangely unsettling that I have peace knowing they would constantly play argue about who would pass first,” Lozano told the outlet in a statement.

“But in the end … they got what they both wanted. Each other.”

The two were “avid donators to non profit organizations especially to cancer,” since
Gladys lost her mother to the disease, the statement said.

“Always providing for anyone who’s in need or just to spark a smile on someone’s face. Their souls were truly beautiful and are now blessed.”

Authorities identified the remains of the three victims using DNA testing, dropping the number of those unaccounted for down to 156.

Stacie Fang, 54, was identified as a victim of the collapse on Friday. Her 15-year-old son Jonah Handler survived after rescuers pulled him from the rubble.

A fifth victim, whose remains were discovered on Saturday, has yet to be identified.

A Miami television meteorologist said that he was related to the Lozanos, mourning them as “beautiful people.”

“These are my Godmother and uncle. They were found today in the rubble of the collapsed condo building in Surfside,” 7News Chief Meteorologist Phil Ferro wrote on Instagram Saturday evening.

“They were such beautiful people. May they Rest In Peace.”

The couple’s son Sergio Lozano ate dinner with his parents Wednesday, and lives in a tower across from the collapsed wing of the condo, according to WPLG.

He said he heard a loud noise at around 1 a.m. on Thursday and went out on his balcony to see what was going on, the report said.

“I tell [my wife], ‘It’s not there,’” he told the outlet about the building. “And she’s yelling, ‘What do you mean?’ ‘My parents apartment is not there, it’s gone!’ and I just ran downstairs.”

The Lozanos lived in apartment 903 of the doomed building. Rescue crews recovered Antonio’s body on Thursday and Gladys’ body on Friday, local outlet WPLG reported.

LaFont, a father of two, lived in apartment 804, police and the report said.

Before he was identified, his ex-wife and the mother of his son and daughter told USA Today that LaFont was sleeping when the building collapsed.

“When I saw it, I almost died,” Adriana LaFont, 42, told the newspaper in Spanish.

“It felt like those walls fell on me, too.”
