Being an ancient, presumably evil dragon isn’t all it’s cracked up to be, and now a new preview video, three new cast members, and the opening theme song information has been revealed for the upcoming Japanese language version of the fantasy light novel adaptation A Herbivorous Dragon of 5,000 Years Gets Unfairly Villainized. The new cast members include:
- Water Saint voiced by Shuka Saitō.
- Ryatt voiced by Yoshino Nanjō.
- Aliante voiced by Mariko Miyase.
The opening theme, entitled “Bokura wa Genius” (“We Are Genius”), is performed by Shuka Saitō.

Crunchyroll currently streams the Chinese language version of A Herbivorous Dragon of 5,000 Years Gets Unfairly Villainized, and describes the story of the series as follows:
Desperate to defend her village from the demon king, Reiko offers herself to a 5,000-year-old dragon for his help in exchange, but the flame-breathing beast is vegetarian and a total weakling. Together they embark on a journey to take down the demon king. With her dragon comrade, Reiko claims that she’s his disciple, able to draw from his infinite powers, but is it really from him?

The original A Herbivorous Dragon of 5,000 Years Gets Unfairly Villainized light novels are written by Kaisei Enomoto, illustrated by Syugao, and published in Japan by Kadokawa Shoten under their Kadokawa Sneaker Bunko Imprint. The original net animation is directed by Siwen Liu and features animation production by LAN STUDIO, and it previously streamed in China on bilibili.
The Japanese language version of A Herbivorous Dragon of 5,000 Years Gets Unfairly Villainized will broadcast in Japan on AT-X and TOKYO MX beginning on January 06, 2023,with an additional broadcast to follow on BS Fuji beginning on January 10, 2023.
