Liberty University’s campus pastor has apologized to students for ousted school president Jerry Falwell Jr.’s “sinful” sex scandal.

Speaking during a worship service at the ultra-conservative Virginia school Wednesday, David Nasser called the sordid allegations about Falwell, his wife and a much younger pool boy an “embarrassment” — and said he should be held “accountable,” according to The News and Advance.

“I am sorry,” said Nasser, who is also the school’s senior vice president. “You as a Liberty student deserve better. And the embarrassment that’s been brought upon you as a Liberty student, and more importantly brought upon the name of Christ, is wrong.”

Falwell, 58, resigned from the college this week when 29-year-old Giancarlo Granda alleged that he’d had a seven-year tryst with Becki Falwell after meeting her at a hotel where he worked as a pool boy — and that her husband liked to watch them get it on.

Becki, 53, admitted to the affair, though denied the evangelical bigwig looked on, while Falwell has accused Granda of trying to extort the couple.

Falwell, whose famous televangelist father founded the Lynchburg college, was already on leave from the school after a photo emerged of him with his jeans unzipped and his arm around a young pregnant woman.

Students at the school — where attendees are not allowed to have sex outside of marriage — are “right to want to see stern and swift accountable action for sinful behavior,” said Nasser.

“I know that many of you are hurting and that breaks my heart,” he added. “Your concerns — if you’re concerned — are valid. If you’re not concerned, you should be concerned.”

During his hour-long speech, Nasser also stressed that students should also be open to “forgiving” Falwell.

“It’s okay to call sin, sin,” he said. “You know why? Because it is the only way to actually start to deal with it.”

Reached by the News and Advance Wednesday, Falwell insisted he hadn’t “sinned.”

“I called Nasser and asked him exactly what sin I committed,” Falwell said. “He couldn’t and wouldn’t answer. He just hung up and now won’t answer.”
