“The Witch from Mercury Season 2 Will Begin on April 9”

The second season of Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury is set to premiere on April 9 in Japan. It was also announced that a special program will be broadcast the week before on April 2.

A teaser visual was released for the show last month. It was also revealed that the second season will feature the return of Yume Miyamoto to the role of Nika Nanaura following her health improvement.

The first season of Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury, which was originally labelled as just a two-cout show, premiered in October 2022 and ran for 12 episodes. The revived Nichigo time slot that the show is broadcast in typically airs multiple cour anime that have consecutive cours.

The show is the first Gundam anime to feature the new Ad Stella timeline and a female protagonist. The premise is described as:

A.S. (Ad Stella) 122―

An era when a multitude of corporations have entered space and built a huge economic system.
A lone girl from the remote planet Mercury transfers to the Asticassia School of Technology,
run by the Beneritt Group which dominates the mobile suit industry.

Her name is Suletta Mercury.
With a scarlet light burning in her pure heart,
this girl walks step by step through a new world.

The staff includes Hiroshi Kobayashi (Dragon Pilot: Hisone and Masotan, Kiznaiver) as director, Ichirou Ohkouchi (Code Geass) as series composer, Takashi Ohmama (Mobile Suit Gundam: Twilight Axis) as music composer, and Marie Tagashira (Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathaway’s Flash character animation director), Juri Toida (Gundam Build Divers Battlogue), and Hirotoshi Takaya (Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt animation character designer) as character designers. Bandai Namco Filmworks is the animation production company.
