#The War of the Rohirrim
Nerdist has unveiled an exclusive first look at an epic new battle visual for The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim. The upcoming anime film will begin screening in North American theaters on December 13, 2024.
Kenji Kamiyama (Blade Runner: Black Lotus co-director, Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex) is directing the film, with Phoebe Gittins and Arty Papageorgiou writing the screenplay, which is based on an original story by The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance showrunners Jeffrey Addiss and Will Matthews. Sola Entertainment is producing the film.
Meanwhile, the film’s main voice cast includes:
- • Brian Cox as Helm Hammerhand
- • Gaia Wise as Héra
- • Luke Pasqualino as Wulf
- • Miranda Otto as Éowyn (reprising her role from The Lord of the Rings film trilogy)

The Lord of The Rings: The War of The Rohirrim will be released and distributed by Warner Bros’ New Line Cinema production studio. The main synopsis is described as:
Set 183 years before the events chronicled in the original trilogy of films, “The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim” tells the fate of the House of Helm Hammerhand, the legendary King of Rohan. A sudden attack by Wulf, a clever and ruthless Dunlending lord seeking vengeance for the death of his father, forces Helm and his people to make a daring last stand in the ancient stronghold of the Hornburg — a mighty fortress that will later come to be known as Helm’s Deep. Finding herself in an increasingly desperate situation, Héra, the daughter of Helm, must summon the will to lead the resistance against a deadly enemy intent on their total destruction.
