#The Giants’ passing game has been almost non-existent

In a passing league willed with yardage and chunk plays, the Giants are barely participating and certainly not contributing much to the pyrotechnics.

They head into Week 15 with nine passing touchdowns — only the Patriots (eight) have fewer. Heck, even the Jets (11) have thrown their way into the end zone more successfully. Daniel Jones, in 12 games, has eight touchdown passes, which is prehistoric from a production standpoint. The Giants have one passing touchdown in their past four games, a short scoring flip from Colt McCoy to Alfred Morris in Seattle. Five teams in the NFL have 30 or more touchdown passes this season, led by the Packers with 39.

Their opponents Sunday night, the Browns, have evolved into a running team, but still have 24 touchdown passes. It does not seem feasible for the Giants to expect to win games operating with such a shabby passing offense.

“Whatever it takes for us to have success, we’ll go ahead and adjust in the game to make sure that we’re moving in that direction,’’ coach Joe Judge said. “We always expect to have success. Look, we’re not afraid to make this a grinding game in any way, shape or form against any team. I think we’ve shown that throughout the year. Our defense is a key part of how we play. Our kicking game and field position, we have to continue to improve in all of those phases. Then offensively, look, we want to be able to run the ball and throw the ball effectively when we need to. Some games, it’s more running. Some games, it’s more throwing. Whatever presents itself, whatever is working within the game, we’ll always make the adjustments to keep that going.’’

The Browns will be without two starters, right guard Wyatt Teller (ankle) and free safety Andrew Sendejo (concussion). Their defense looks much different without CB Denzel Ward, who is questionable for the game. Ward missed the past three games with a calf issue. TE David Njoku (knee) is also questionable.

The Giants’ Logan Ryan was leading all NFL safeties this week in voting for the Pro Bowl. The eight-year veteran has never been selected for that honor. Final voting is announced on Monday. The Giants made a flurry of roster moves Saturday. Two involved QBs, with Clayton Thorson activated off the practice squad and Joe Webb signed off the practice squad, as Daniel Jones is expected to be inactive for the game. Webb is also a special teams player and has also caught passes in the NFL. Defensive back Adrian Colbert was activated off injured reserve and cornerbacks Jarren Williams and Quincy Wilson were elevated off the practice squad. Extra help is needed at cornerback with James Bradberry out after testing positive for COVID-19. DB Montre Hartage was waived.

“I’m definitely focused on the Browns first and foremost,’’ Ryan said. “I think being first place by just being a team-first player, I’m not really chasing stats, I’m trying to do whatever job the team asks me to do that week. Look, I played my butt off at Tennessee for years and felt like I deserved it and didn’t get it, so to have the recognition of the fan base, this great fan base and the amount of eyes on me, and playing here is something I embrace and something I love of the pressure cooker that New York City is with the lights always on you. So I love the fans for them to vote me as many times as they did, making the Pro Bowl would be a huge accomplishment.’’

Giants tight ends coach Freddie Kitchens was the Browns’ head coach in 2019 when Odell Beckham Jr. arrived in a trade from the Giants. Beckham played in all 16 games and, according to Kitchens, did not cause too many distractions.

“Odell was fine,’’ Kitchens said. “I think Odell catches flak sometimes for just being himself. Odell demonstrated a lot of toughness and played through some injuries and stuff like that. I hated to see what happened to him against Cincinnati [Beckham tore his ACL earlier this season], but I bet he’ll be fine coming back. He works his tail off and he’ll be fine.’’
