They apparently didn’t have their E-Z Pass.

Commuters in Nilgiris, Southern India, got a closer wildlife encounter than perhaps desired after an enraged elephant smashed their bus’ windshield with its tusks, as seen in this wild video.

The frightening attack reportedly occurred on Sept. 25 while a state-owned bus was ferrying government employees in Kotagiri, Jam Press reported. The driver had stopped to let a male tusker cross the road, whereupon Dumbo decided to attack the vehicle.

In the dramatic footage, shot by a passenger, the driver can be seen backing up the bus while the pissed-off pachyderm pursues it like a T. Rex in “Jurassic Park.” All of a sudden, the elephant rams both its tusks into the windshield, creating a massive spiderweb crack, which causes the passengers to cry out in shock.

After the colossal critter gores the glass a second time, the driver puts the vehicle in park and then herds the commuters to the back of the bus.

Thankfully, the elephant eventually walked away without inflicting more damage on the vehicle, according to Jam Press.

The driver has been praised for remaining cool in the face of danger.

Meanwhile, environmental officials have praised the bus operator for remaining calm in the face of the tram-page.

“Huge respect for the driver of this Government bus in Nilgiris who kept his cool even under the terrifying hits on the bus from an agitated tusker,” tweeted Supriya Sahu, principal secretary for environment, climate change and forests for the government of Tamil Nadu. “He helped passengers move back safely, in an incident today morning. That’s why they say a cool mind works wonders.”

This isn’t the first time an elephant has given a vehicle a beat-down. In 2014, an angry tusker made waves online after it was filmed flipping a car in Kruger National Park, South Africa.
