“Water-main break floods NYC subway station, streets”
A water-main break in SoHo flooded a subway station and surrounding streets and halted some trains Sunday, officials said.
“At approximately 10:41 a.m., New York City Transit personnel observed a water condition on the 1/2/3 line near Canal Street as a result of a water main break,” MTA spokesman Aaron Donovan said in a statement.
The Canal Street Station at Broadway in Manhattan was inundated with water, as were some streets around it, photos show.
As a result, No. 3 train service was suspended, No. 1 train service was halted between South Ferry and 14th Street, and No. 2 trains were operating on the No. 5 line between Nevins Street in Brooklyn and 149th Street-Grand Concourse in The Bronx in both directions.
