#The Politician Season 2 now streaming on Netflix

The Netflix drama The Politician released in late September of last year to many positive reviews. The series focuses on a high school student named Payton Hobart (Ben Platt) who decides to run for student body president at Saint Sebastian High School as his biggest goal is to eventually be President of the United States.

Nothing comes easy for Payton when it comes to the election and high school life in general, but he at least has the guidance and support of his friends, Alice Charles (Julia Schlaepfer), McAfee Westbrook (Laura Dreyfuss), and James Sullivan (Theo Germaine).

One of the second season’s primary plot points will be an older version of Ben (college age) running in the New York State Senate race against Dede Standish (Judith Light) as a method to continue building towards his main life goal. Season 2 will also star actress Bette Midler as Hadassah Gold, the chief of staff for Standish.

The series released eight episodes in Season 1 and Season 2 will follow-up with seven. Season 1 had a star-studded cast that featured Zoey Deutch as Infinity Jackson, Lucy Boynton as Astrid Sloan, Gwyneth Paltrow as Georgina Hobart, and Jessica Lange as Dusty Jackson.

Will there be a Season 3 and what will happen in it?

The Politician has received two Golden Globe Award nominees in 2020, one for Best Actor, and another for Best Television Series. It was created by writer/producer Ryan Murphy.

According to an interview Collider conducted with show creator Ryan Murphy, the wait between Season 2 and a potential Season 3 could be a long one nonetheless.

As for the return of the show with a Season 3, there no remains no indication on whether that will happen, but if it does, fans can only hope they get to see Payton eventually run for President and get voted into the White House.
