The Pharcyde have returned with their first new song in decades, just in time for the 30th anniversary of their seminal album Bizarre Ride II the Pharcyde.

According to Northern Transmissions, the new track, titled “My Man,” was meant to appear as the closer on Bizarre Ride II, but the group reportedly said it didn’t gel with the “adventure” that occurred throughout the rest of the project.

The group also acknowledged the album’s anniversary on their social media channels, retweeting shout-outs and thanking everyone for the love they’ve received over the past three decades.

J-Swift tweeted: “‘My Man’ is debuting today, November 24, 2022, on our 30th Anniversary of the release of Bizarre Ride II the Pharcyde. Peace, Love, and Hip Hop. To all fans of The Pharcyde, and Hip Hop fans in general, I am pleased to present to you this unreleased recording ‘My Man!’ Streaming.”

Bizarre Ride II dropped on November 24, 1992 and has been hailed as a pioneering album for psychedelic rap, and one of the Hip Hop’s greatest projects.

Despite it’s G.O.A.T. status, the album performed modestly on the Billboard charts, peaking at No. 75 in 1992. However, the project’s second single “Passin’ Me By” would go on to be certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America on March 28, 1996.

While the group fell apart shortly after the release of their sophomore album Labcabincalifornia, they have reunited on a few occasions, most recently on Fatlip’s new solo album, Torpor, on a track called “My Bad” featuring Butch Cassidy. Bootie Brown also recently collaborated with Gorillaz on their new song “New Gold.”

Producer Sccit briefly spoke about “My Bad” and said it could potentially lead to more collaborations, but that it’s not up to him.

“An abundance of heart and soul was poured into the making of this album,” he told HipHopDX. “We put a lot into perfecting every last song so that we could give the world what it deserves. Additionally, we wanted nothing more than to reunite The Pharcyde, so we brought everyone together on ‘My Bad’ in hopes of destroying the divide and letting love win. But this isn’t a Disney movie and a fairytale ending isn’t what you always get.

“Only the most high knows what the future holds, but if this is the official death of The Pharcyde, then that song is the memorial service — one last time to commemorate the legends and give them a proper send off. Let the music speak for itself.”
