Evangelion: 3.0+1.01 Thrice Upon A Time is coming to Malaysia on October 27, with the film to be screened exclusively at Golden Screen Cinemas. The movie recently premiered in neighbouring Singapore on September 29.

Evangelion: 3.0+1.01 was first released in Japan on March 8, 2021 as Evangelion 3.0+1.0: Thrice Upon A Time. Evangelion: 3.0+1.01, which features several animation revisions, was released in Japanese theaters on June 12, 2021 and internationally via Amazon Prime on August 13, 2021. 

Encore Films, which is one of the movie’s distributors, describe the plot as:

In the aftermath of the Fourth Impact, stranded without their Evangelions, Shinji, Asuka, and Rei find refuge in one of the rare pockets of humanity that still exist on the ruined planet Earth. There, each of them live a life far different from their days as an Evangelion pilot. However, the danger to the world is far from over. A new impact is looming on the horizon—one that will prove to be the true end of Evangelion.

The movie is the fourth and final entry in the Rebuild of Evangelion film series, which is a retelling of the 1995 Neon Genesis Evangelion series. The Rebuild of Evangelion quadrilogy began in 2007, while the previous entry, Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo, was released in 2012.

Evangelion: 3.0+1.01‘s staff includes Evangelion creator Hideaki Anno as chief director and scriptwriter, Atsushi Nishigori (The Idolmaster and Darling in the Franxx director) as chief animation director, Deho Gallery’s Tatsuya Kushida (Evangelion 1.0 and Evangelion 2.0 co-art director) as art director, T2 studio’s Tooru Fukushi (Rebuild of Evangelion) as photography director, Daisuke Onitsuka (Rebuild of Evangelion co-CG director) as CG director, and Shirou Sagisu (SSSS.Gridman, Neon Genesis Evangelion) as the music composer. Khara is the animation production company.
