#The Munsters Star Channels Geico Caveman Role to Wish Director Rob Zombie Well

“The Munsters Star Channels Geico Caveman Role to Wish Director Rob Zombie Well”

Actor Jeff Daniel Phillips has found a fun way to ring in Independence Day this year. Just ahead of the 4th of July, Phillips, who stars as Herman Munster in Rob Zombie‘s new take on The Munsters, posted a video to social media channeling another iconic character he’s played in years past. Back in character as one of the “Cavemen” from classic Geico commercials, Phillips delivers addresses Zombie to send will wishes for both his upcoming tour and the release of The Munsters later this year.

“Oh yeah, Robbie Z,” Phillips says in the video. “You rock. Me caveman. Have a good tour, and I look forward to seeing your film in the fall. Take care of yourself, my man. Say hi to your wife, too. Lucky man. Take care of yourself. Peace.”

In a tweet, Daniels added, “Only in the USA can a Caveman send good wishes to a Zombie for his tour with Freaks & film with Munsters. Some things still to be proud of us. HAPPY 4th Y’ALL! We got this!”

Of course, Daniels knows Zombie’s wife, Sheri Moon Zombie, rather well. The two play a married couple in The Munsters with Sheri co-starring as Lily and they have spent the past several months working on the film. They serve as two of the main stars alongside Dan Roebuck as The Count, the three of which all appeared together in a teaser trailer promoting the release of The Munsters.

Jeff Daniel Phillips Was a Caveman Before Herman Munster

The Munsters isn’t the first Rob Zombie movie to feature Jeff Daniel Phillips. The actor has previously appeared in films like Halloween II, The Lords of Salem, 31, and 3 from Hell. His work outside of Zombie movies includes a memorable run playing one of the Cavemen featured in a series of Geico commercials, a role he reprised for the short-lived ABC sitcom Cavemen. The ad campaign suggested that calling Geico to save on car insurance was so easy, a “caveman could do it,” a saying that the Cavemen considered offensive.

The Munsters is rated PG, a first for Zombie. There hasn’t been an official release date announced for The Munsters at this time, but it’s expected to arrive later this year. How it will be released, whether it goes straight to streaming or head to theaters, is unclear. The above video posted by Phillips suggests that the movie will arrive this fall, hopefully just in time for the spooky Halloween holiday season. Rob Zombie has frequently posted updates on the film’s progress, so once the movie has a release date set in stone, we can presume that it won’t be long before Zombie shares that information with the world.
