1. Old Sanatorium

Fancy visiting some of the scariest places in Greece? This country is popular for its extremely good weather and stunning beaches, though there are many creepy places to visit. Believe it or not, there is a strange atmosphere in several places regarding ghost hunting and frightening ghost stories. Starting with one of the most popular among locals, the Old Sanatorium situated in a mountain close to Athens was the place where people sick from tuberculosis were healed. After the decade of the 60s, the building was renovated and was built the Xenia Hotel, but due to competition of the nearby hotel, it was shut down. Today, visitors claim that heard noises, voices, and weird low temperatures. Also, there is the ghost of a little girl crying and asking for water.

2. The Well of Souls

Located in the most stylish and rich suburb of Athens, the well of souls is hard to find, but many people visited for ghost hunting. The well is hidden by reeds and covered by a cement block with symbols on it. There is a myth that several spirits have made their home there, so it is quite common to hear voices if you ever pass by the location. As reported by locals, in 1945 a citizen tried to shoot a ghost, but the next day fell ill and died.

3. Davelis Cave

In the second-highest mountain in Athens, it is located a cave which is said to be the worship of Pan and the nymphs since ancient times. During the Middle Ages, Christians went there and built a church at the cave entrance. At the beginning of the 20th century, it was connected with wizardry, paranormal activity, and rituals such as black magic. Besides, many claimed that have seen ghosts there, and even UFO.

A magnificent mansion built in one of the most crowded places in the second biggest city in Greece, Thessaloniki is the Red House. It is said to be one’s of Greece’s scariest places. It was built in 1926 and the owner was the industrialist Giannis Logou. By the time, he and his family moved there, weird events started to happen. Additionally, the family has mentioned that heard voices, and doors closing without any specific reason. It was abandoned for 40 years, and now it is home on the ground floor by three coffee shops. However, on the upper floors, they usually hear voices and strange noises.

5. First Cemetery of Athens

The First Cemetery of Athens is the resting place of significant Greek people such as politicians, artists, poets, actors, and people related to the church. It was built in 1837 and it is located behind the Panathenaic Stadium. The cemetery is open to the public, as it has a stunning sculpture to admire. Although, at night has some creepy vibes, as it is said that the spirit of Nikolas Batsaris, a previous worker to the cemetery is sitting on a wreath during the night. Also, the hill next to the cemetery is said to be haunted, as many Germans soldiers are buried there.
