#Tems releases new single “Not An Angel”

After a two-year hiatus from solo work, Tems has released her second single in two months, “Not An Angel.” The release comes as a solid continuation of the Nigerian artist’s unique fusion of alternative R&B and neo-soul, delivering languorous Afrobeat grooves with a decadent alto croon.
When asked to comment on the track, Tems stated, “This song is about knowing your worth and moving on in life from anything holding you back.” In Tems’ typical fashion, the lyrics are deceptively poetic, melding into the song’s brooding rhythmic base reminiscent of 90s hip hop.
“Not An Angel” is written entirely by Tems and co-produced with Sarz. Sarz was also a collaborator on this year’s earlier release, “Me & U.” The drop is accompanied by a video visualizer, directed by Nakato and Lemost. Check it out below.
In the past, Tems has also worked with artists like Drake, Brent Faiyaz, and Future, and was featured in the 2022 Black Panther: Wakanda Forever soundtrack.
