#Kimi ni Todoke Live-Action Drama Trailer Filled with Bitter and Sweet High School Romance

“Kimi ni Todoke Live-Action Drama Trailer Filled with Bitter and Sweet High School Romance”

With a main visual inspired by the cover of the manga’s first volume, Netflix Japan has released a full trailer for the forthcoming live-action drama adaptation of Karuho Shiina’s romance shoujo manga Kimi ni Todoke.

The clip also features the theme song “Ai no Uta” (The Song of Love) performed by Japanese singer-songwriter Takaya Kawasaki. He says, “I read ‘Kimi ni Todoke’ when I was a student, and it taught me the importance of friends and family, the fleeting nature of love, and the straightforwardness of thinking about the person you love. I am very honored to be entrusted with the theme song for the drama of such a work. I read the original manga again and again, and was thrilled by the memories and nostalgia that came back to me as I worked on the music. I wrote this song while imagining such a dedicated heroine who thinks not of herself but of someone else. She worries, makes mistakes, but still goes on. I hope that through this drama and the music, I can convey what needs to be conveyed, and that I can give a push to those of you who are touched by this work. Please, may this reach you.”

The drama series co-produced by TV Tokyo and Netflix is set to premiere worldwide on March 30, 2023.

Netflix describes the drama’s synopsis as below:

First-year high school student Sawako Kuronuma finds it hard to fit in with her classmates and is mockingly nicknamed “Sadako” because of her long black hair and pale skin. As she lives her lonely school life, she meets a boy who talks to her and doesn’t care about the rumors. His name is Shota Kazehaya, and he is the most popular student in his class, loved by everyone for his cheerful personality. By talking with Kazehaya, Sawako slowly begins to open up to her other classmates. As she lives the high school life she always dreamed of, her feelings toward Kazehaya begin to change…
