#The Fantastic Four: How will Marvel’s First Family be introduced in the MCU?

“The Fantastic Four: How will Marvel’s First Family be introduced in the MCU?”

Reed Richards’ Mr. Fantastic enters the confines of the MCU through Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness. Only to see him exchange dialogues and then get shredded by Wanda. The future of Marvel’s First Family is still as bright as day and that is not the last time we will see Reed Richards, thankfully.

With one phase away from the grand movie events of 2025 and 2026, respectively, Avengers: Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars, we are near yet so far to see these powerful misfits. But, do you ever wonder how they’ll get introduced in the MCU?

Come, follow me as we let our imaginations run like hell as we look at ways the Fantastic Four will get introduced in the MCU. Be advised that the following are theories corroborated by the comics and Marvel fans. There is no confirmation and will remain a theory until these movies come out.

Black Panther Wakanda Forever

Let’s put a pin on this immediately as it creates an audacious possibility to introduce the Fantastic Four in the MCU. Tenoch Huerta, who plays the antagonist Namor, in his interview with The Hollywood Reporter seems to make it clear that he is not the villain(maybe a villain adjacent, instead) of Wakanda Forever. Their conflict might be driven by the question of what a nation becomes without a king. This then opens the door for a third monarch to enter the scene… Victor Von Doom, the Fantastic Four’s nemesis.

War of the Monarchs

How so? If Ryan Coogler takes inspiration from the source material, we can find this take place in Christopher Priest’s Black Panther series Issues #27 to #29 (side note: Mephisto is also here. Issue #1.) where he introduced the conflict between T’Challa and Namor and Doom enters to downplay the two monarchs.

The Fantastic Four could then come to T’Challa and Namor’s aid by way of tracking down Dr. Doom. How the conflict evolves is a mystery. We’ll just have to wait for this movie to come out in a few weeks. Probably best fitting for a post-credit scene? Don’t you think?

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania

This is another big, hairy introduction for the Fantastic Four in the MCU. In the final act of Ant-Man, Scott made it back from the Quantum Realm after defeating the Yellow Jacket. Hank Pym became fascinated with the idea that his wife, Janet Van Dyne, can still make it back from the Quantum Realm in Ant-Man and the Wasp. However, this was not Hank’s first attempt to take on that feat.

Bring Janet back

During his tenure with S.H.I.E.L.D. in 1991, Hank has a team of scientists namely, Reed Richards, Susan Storm, Johnny Storm, and Benjamin Grimm. Because the suit took a toll on Hank, he sends them out on a mission to use Pym particles and get into the quantum realm, and rescue Janet. Hope getting orphaned is out of the picture so rather them than Pym, right?

First Family, First

In an unfortunate turn of events, the team did not make it back. Thus, finding their way into a city found within the quantum realm making them the first inhabitants. Since the concept of time and space is irrelevant in the quantum realm, the team aged much more slowly and they gained their powers the longer they stayed.

Reed and Susan got married and gave birth to three beautiful kids, Franklin, Valeria, and Nathaniel – who would later become Kang and would rule the city, Chronopolis. In time, Janet comes across Nathaniel and steals something from him. It was a device essential in his reign as Kang the Conqueror.

Home at last

Now, Ant-Man, Wasp, Stinger, Hank, and Janet return to Chronopolis with Kang, as its ruler. After the Multiversal War, Kang desires to conquer Earth(616) and bring Chronopolis with him and make it the supreme center of the planet.

Ant-Man is the key to getting there. This is the chance for the Fantastic Four to finally return home and probably go against their son in Avengers: Kang Dynasty. Probably an end-credit scene in Quantumania(Again, not confirmed).

Secret Invasion

Another stage for the Fantastic Four to be introduced in the MCU is Secret Invasion, which is set to release in 2023.

In the comics, as well as in the cartoons, the Fantastic Four also has invasions to deal with. One particular alien is the Super-Skrull. Now, we might get to see Super-Skrull in Secret Invasion ahead of the Fantastic Four with the signature rock hands, and rubber body, he can turn invisible and throw flames at the same time.

I could imagine a dialogue where Fury encounters Super-Skrull like…

Super-Skrull shoots flames at Nick Fury

Fury: “Where the hell did that come from?”

Super-Skrull: “I fought your kind before. The thing is they’re weird and you are not and I like weird.”

The Marvels

Another possible show for the Fantastic Four’s introduction in the MCU could be The Marvels. In the comics, Carol Danvers makes appearances when the First Family has missions in space. This could be a nice way to introduce them.

A pitch could be… While flying and patrolling the vast universe, Carol rescues a team of explorers floating in space after something went wrong with their mission that caused their cells to regenerate when they are brought back to earth.

While that is not quite compelling of a backstory, we are still left with the question, who is the “Aerospace Engineer” Monica was referring to in WandaVision? Reed Richards matches that since he proves to be an expert in that field. But another candidate can also be Adam Brashear AKA Blue Marvel.

Oscorp? Baxter Building?

In Spider-Man Homecoming, we witness the vacation of the Avengers Tower since the headquarters moved upstate. We never heard of or saw the tower again after Far From Home but fans still gazed their thoughts on its possible new occupants. Some say that Norman Osborne, being the tycoon that he is, bought the building to establish Oscorp.

But, the Fantastic Four may best fit that void. Why not? The Avengers logo has a subtle “4” if you look at it closely. So, they get their powers, buy the building and rename it Baxter Building or Foundation for Future Foundation.  They shall soon recruit Spider-Man and She-Hulk to be members of the team. Okay, I’m getting way ahead of myself and the fandom but this seems to excite all the hairs on my body just getting that idea.

Snap, Snap, Blip, Snap

This theory has long been pitched by fans since Avengers Endgame left the theaters. It is still to be seen or just remain as a theory forever but, who knows? There are four snaps actually, and we can never tell which of those snaps triggered superpowers.

The Breakdown

  • Thanos’ Snap (Wakanda) – the first snap that turned half of the universe to dust. It might have also triggered something in the human genetics or alien genetics, if from other planets.
  • Thanos’ Snap (The Garden) – the second snap. Thanos used the stones to get rid of them, causing the gauntlet to melt and fuse with his hand. Rocket described that after this snap, “Earth became ground zero for a power surge of ridiculously cosmic proportions. No one’s ever seen anything like it.” Maybe during this time, the Fantastic Four are in space and they get radiated by that power the second time which enhances the superhuman abilities they received from the first snap.
  • Hulk’s Snap – Also known as the “Blip”. This could have given the dusted population powers upon their return to reality. Monica Rambeau returns to the hospital where she was looking after her mom, Maria. She then manifested her Spectrum powers after penetrating the hex to enter Westview. She could not only be the one. The Fantastic Four might have also been “Blipped”, receiving powers upon their return.
  • Tony’s Snap – What do you think was running in Tony’s mind before he snapped? Tony only ever wanted suits of armor around the world, to end the fight and then go home. Probably he wished that alongside dusting the threats of the universe, those who get another chance at life will get powers that they would no longer need the Avengers to fight for them. Marvel’s First Family surely gets that chance just in time for Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars.
