Google will display a warning for searches where the results are “rapidly evolving.”

When a user performs a search falling into this area, they will receive a message noting that “results are changing quickly.”

“If this topic is new, it can sometimes take time for results to be added by reliable sources,” reads the prompt from Google.

“While Google Search will always be there with the most useful results we can provide, sometimes the reliable information you’re searching for just isn’t online yet,” said Danny Sullivan, public liaison for search, in a recent blog post. “This can be particularly true for breaking news or emerging topics, when the information that’s published first may not be the most reliable.”

Sullivan said Google has trained its search systems to detect when a range of sources hasn’t weighed in yet on specific searches.

The messaging is the latest push by tech companies to stamp out the spread of misinformation on its platforms. Earlier this month, Twitter said it would add a topic providing credible information about climate change.
