The Pompo: The Cinéphile anime movie has received a new trailer ahead of its June 4 premiere in Japan, which offers another preview of the movie’s visuals and its characters’ movie-making efforts.
The trailer also features the insert songs “Hangyakusha no Bokura” (“We the Rebels”) by DUSTCELL vocalist EMA and “Tatoeba” (“For Example”) by KAF. The main theme song is “Mado wo Akete” (“Open the Window”) by CIEL.
Additionally, it was announced that the movie, which is an adaptation of the manga by Shogo Sugitani, will include an original character called Aran (Ryuichi Kijima). Aran makes an appearance in the new trailer.
The staff includes Takayuki Hirao (God Eater) as director, Shingo Adachi (Sword Art Online, Wagnaria!!) as character designer, Kanji Miyake (Tower of God episode 11 director) as the director’s assistant, Takafumi Nishima (HoneyWorks 10th Anniversary “LIP×LIP FILM×LIVE”) and Miu Miyamoto (The Island of Giant Insects) as art directors, Kō Hoshina and Masashi Uoyama (Deca-Dence) as photography directors, and song composer Kenta Matsukuma as music composer. Studio CLAP is in charge of the animation production.
Meanwhile, the cast includes Hiroya Shimizu as Gene Fini, Konomi Kohara as Joelle Davidovich “Pompo” Pomponett, Rinka Ōtani as Nathalie Woodward, Ai Kakuma as Mystia, and Akio Ohtsuka as Martin Braddock.
The Pompo: The Cinéphile manga begin serialization on pixiv in 2017 and has five tankōbon volumes as of April 2021. Amazon describes the first volume as:
