#The Beatles Actors Unveiled in First Look Images from Brian Epstein Biopic

Shortly after the release of a new documentary from Peter Jackson about the Beatles, our first look at the Fab Four in the upcoming movie Midas Man has been revealed. The feature, which serves as a biopic for Beatles manager Brian Epstein, features Jacob Fortune-Lloyd (The Queen’s Gambit) in the lead role. It chronicles Epstein’s role in the “creative explosion” of the 1960s and his sizable influence on pop music.

It’s now been revealed that the actors playing the Beatles are Jonah Lees (The Letter for the King) as John Lennon, New Hope Club’s Blake Richardson as Paul McCartney, Leo Harvey Elledge (Creation Stories) as George Harrison, and Campbell Wallace as Ringo Starr. A pair of first look images at the actors in character as the Fab Four have been unveiled as well.

Recently, it was reported that the cast also includes Adam Lawrence (Peaky Blinders) as original Beatles drummer Pete Best and former Tonight Show host Jay Leno as Ed Sullivan. Also starring are Emily Watson as Epstein’s mother Malka “Queenie” Epstein, Eddie Marsan as Brian’s father and successful businessman Harry, Omari Douglas as Lonnie Trimble, Epstein’s ever-trusted confidant, and Rosie Day as Merseybeat star Cilla Black. Featured in supporting roles are Lukas Gage (Love, Victor) as Tex Ellington and Charley Palmer Rothwell (Jack Ryan) as The Beatles’ record producer George Martin.

Filming on Midas Man began in Liverpool in October but temporarily shut down with director Jonas Akerlund abruptly leaving the project. Sara Sugarman (Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen) has since signed on to direct the movie using a screenplay from Brigit Grant with a story by Jonathan Wakeham. Twickenham Studios Chairman Sunny Vohra and former Lionsgate UK President Nicola Pearcey are executive producing, and StudioPow is producing with Trevor Beattie Films.

“The director of Midas Man Jonas Akerlund is taking a break from the film,” the studio previously stated when Akerlund exited. “Until some matters become clearer, we are not able to add any further comment to this statement. In the meantime, we can confirm that filming of Midas Man will continue in London in November before breaking for Christmas. Filming will restart in early January in Los Angeles.”

In a new statement, Sugarman said, “The actors playing the Beatles are an extraordinary group they ooze that very visceral feeling of the ‘60s, are charming, playful, and so authentic and I have no doubt that Jay Leno will capture the essence of Ed Sullivan perfectly. His own experience as an American television host will bring forward a natural, and accurate portrayal and add an incredible element of modern showbiz to the story.”

This is one of many musical biopics in development, perhaps an effect of movies like Bohemian Rhapsody and Rocketman doing so well. Other biopics are in the works about such artists as Buddy Holly, Amy Winehouse, Janet Jackson, Cher, Elvis Presley, and the Bee Gees, among many others.

Production on Midas Man will move to the United States in early 2022. An official release date for the biopic hasn’t yet been set.
