#Love Live! Nijigasaki’s 1st Movie Gets September 6 Release Date, Visual
The first installment of the previously announced Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club theatrical trilogy is set to begin screening in Japan on September 6 this year.
A promotional visual featuring the Nijigasaki girls running towards the sea was released, and it was revealed that the trilogy’s title is Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club the Movie Kanketsu-hen, indicating that the movies will be the last Nijigasaki anime.
Tomoyuki Kawamura (Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club) is returning as director. Bandai Namco Filmworks’ Sunrise brand is credited with the animation production. The other revealed staff include:
• Scriptwriter: Nii Tanaka (Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club series composer)
• Character designer: Takumi Yokota (Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club)
• Visual director: Kerorira (Bocchi the Rock! character designer)
• Design works: mebachi (Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club)
Apart from the new anime movie news, it was announced that a Bushiroad-published visual novel will be coming to Nintendo Switch. A teaser trailer featuring in-development footage of a conversation with Ayumu Uehara was released.
The original Nijigasaki idol lineup was first announced in 2017 as part of the now-defunct Love Live! School Idol Festival game’s PERFECT Dream Project anniversary project. The first season of the anime premiered in October 2020 and ended in December 2020. The second season ran from April to June 2022.
Following the second season, there was also a short anime adaptation of the Nijiyon 4-koma spin-off and a sequel OVA, which the movie trilogy is set after. Both debuted in 2023. On March 31 of that year, voice actor Tomori Kusunoki left the role of Setsuna Yuki due to medical reasons.
The Love Live! multimedia franchise launched in 2013. Unlike other Love Live! anime, the Nijigasaki series (or its first season, at least) focuses on the concept of solo idols instead of idol units.
