#Holly Holm dominates Irene Aldana at UFC Fight Night

Holly Holm proved she’s still an elite fighter.

Holm, who will turn 39 on Oct. 17, scored an impressive unanimous decision victory over Irene Aldena in the main event of UFC Fight Night on Saturday night in Abu Dhabi.

Two judges scored the fight 50-45 and another had it at 50-44.

Holm, a former UFC women’s bantamweight and boxing champion, won her second straight bout in a performance in which she used a combination of superior kickboxing, takedowns, ground work and boxing to outclass Aldena.

“When I came over to MMA, I didn’t come to be a boxer in an MMA cage, in an Octagon,” Holm said in the ESPN postfight interview. “I came to be a mixed martial artist. And it has taken time. … I’m still very green and learning. I just want to put it all together.”

Holm, who is best known for knocking out Ronda Rousey five years ago, showed she still is one of the best MMA fighters in the world and is on her first winning streak since beating the UFC-turned-WWE star.

“There’s this whole new kind of excitement coming through, a lot of new talent,” said Holm, who now has a 14-5 career mark. “They think this is their stepping stone. And I’m not gonna be that.”

Holm’s victory was even more impressive because Aldana (12-6) had won two straight and five of her past six fights before Saturday’s main event.

Holm is working her way closer to another UFC title shot, but the veteran isn’t looking too far ahead.

“I like to just let the future fold out,” Holm said. “I have a great team around me that worries about that so I can just train.”

The fan-less event took place at the Flash Forum on Yas Island, which the UFC has dubbed “Fight Island.”
