#Claire McKenna’s father calls her NYC death ‘suspicious’

“Claire McKenna’s father calls her NYC death ‘suspicious'”

The grieving father of a young Irish woman found dead in Queens last month told The Post on Wednesday that her death is “suspicious” — but he’s worried authorities will brush it off as a drug overdose.

Derek McKenna claimed cops have video of someone transporting his daughter Claire’s body in a cart — and said she had texted him asking for “help” hours before she was found dead in some shrubs in Queens Village on Oct. 12.

“It’s easy for them. ‘Oh, it’s an overdose.’ And then it goes away,” McKenna told The Post. “But it’s not going to go away. I will do whatever I have to do. I will do it myself. I can do it with them or without them.

“The thing is it’s suspicious.”

Cops have said the 26-year-old woman had a history of drug use and was found partially clothed and with track marks on her left arm, claims that her family denies. The police report didn’t mention a video, the NYPD said Wednesday.

The city Medical Examiner’s Office was still awaiting toxicology reports this week.

“We don’t know what happened,” McKenna said. “We weren’t told that she was found partially clothed. We weren’t told that she was found with track marks on her arm. We were told that she was transported there on a dolly. What they couldn’t confirm is what we were told by the 105th Precinct.”

At 3:11 a.m. on the morning before she was found dead, Claire texted her dad “Help,” then added “my phone will die,” according to messages Derek McKenna shared with The Post.

McKenna’s father, Derek, said his daughter texted him “Help” hours before she was found dead.

McKenna, 55, said cops later obtained surveillance footage of a man transporting his daughter’s body and dumping it in some bushes at 94th Avenue and 214th Street. His attorney has seen the video, though he couldn’t bring himself to watch it.

Law enforcement sources said Claire was found with no ID and appeared as if she had self-inflicted cuts to her arms and a bruise on her neck.

Investigators discovered she had used her credit card on Jamaica Avenue, several blocks from where her body was found in an area where she was known to hang out, the sources added.

The family has been offering $35,000 for information leading to an arrest or conviction.

“I want the public to know that someone out there moved her body. They could have called 911,” the frustrated dad said. “That’s someone who doesn’t care about life. Picking up a body and dumping it. That’s a crime.

“Something happened. It’s not just a drug overdose,” he added. “That person is out there. That person is liable to do anything. People should know what this person did. That person needs to be caught.”

The family, which comes from Ireland but now lives in Queens, has been distraught since Claire — who had a twin and two other sisters — was found dead, McKenna said.

Though he doesn’t believe his daughter did heavy drugs, he said that even if her death were determined to have been an OD, it shouldn’t be the end of the case.

“I feel that police want to treat it as a drug overdose to avoid telling the public that there’s someone out there who’s capable of doing this. They’re hiding it,” McKenna said. “It doesn’t matter drug overdose or not, the point is someone who’s able to transport a body and put it in the bushes at 4:30. To me, there’s something to hide there.”
