#Mo Dao Zu Shi Announces 21 Japanese Cast Members, Broadcast Date, and More

Chinese-produced anime Mo Dai Zu Shi (also known as Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation) is making its Japanese TV debut early next year. The broadcast has confirmed a release date, new theme singers, and 21 cast members joining the Japanese dub of the show.

 

First aired in China in 2018, Mo Dao Zu Shi is based on the novel of the same name, and has run for two seasons so far. A third season has been teased, and a chibi season is currently underway.

 

The latest raft of announcements is headed up by a new key visual and PV:

The PV features a sample of the new themes, written specifically for the Japanese broadcast. The opening, "Senya Souka," will be performed by CIVILIAN. The three-piece band previously performed the Shoukoku no Altair opening "Akairo" and "Seija no Koushin" from ALL OUT!!

The ending theme, "Kiji," will be performed by Aimer. The singer has performed themes for the Fate/stay night films, Vinland Saga, and MOBILE SUIT GUNDAM UNICORN, to name a few.

The series follows Wei Wuxian, one of many practicioners attempting to cultivate a path to immortality. 13 years after his death, Wei Wuxian — who cultivated the controversial Demonic Path — he is summoned into a new body and met by fellow cultivator Lan Wangji. The two will join forces to solve a mystery that will shed light on Wei Wuxian's own past.

 

Mo Dao Zu Shi premieres on WOWOW, TOKYO MX, and BS11 on January 10, 2021.
