Didn’t we just have an Apple event? Apple is now sending out invites for its October 18th “Unleashed” stream, where we expect the company to announce its M1X MacBook Pro, AirPods Gen 3, and several other groundbreaking new products.

We first heard about the upgraded M1X chipset last year, around the time that Apple debuted its custom M1 processor. Rumor has it that the M1X is a major upgrade over the typical M1 chipset—it features eight high-performance cores, two high-efficiency cores, and up to 32 GPU cores. (Analysts say that Apple will offer the M1X with 16 GPU core and 32 GPU core configurations.)

Compare that to the M1’s four high-performance cores, four high-efficiency cores, and eight graphics cores, and yeaaaah. The difference should be night and day, especially when performing graphics-intensive tasks.

Apple may debut three new Macs with the M1X chipset. There’s the 16-inch MacBook Pro, which was “supposed” to launch in June, the 14-inch MacBook Pro, and a Mac Mini Pro. Details on these products are few and far between, though the M1X MacBook Pros may be the first new MacBooks to feature an upgraded design (we expect something similar to the iPad Pro design). They may also pack Mini LED displays and other hardware improvements.

What’s more, Apple could show off its 3rd gen AirPods during this event. We aren’t sure about the details here, as leakers can’t seem to agree on the 3rd gen AirPods’ design or feature-set. That said, Bloomberg says that the new AirPods should have a redesigned ear-tip (similar to AirPods Pro) plus motion sensors for fitness tracking.

Several Apple analysts say that these new AirPods won’t pack ANC, which seems a bit odd. Why else would Apple change the AirPods’ ear-tips? I’m just speculating, but these new ear-tips, which should create the seal required for ANC, are a good sign that Apple is bringing the feature to its base-model earbuds.

Apple’s “Unleashed” event streams October 18th at 1 PM EST (10 AM PST). You can catch it live on the Apple Event page, YouTube, or from the Apple TV app on your Apple device.
