Saitama Prefecture had been holding an audition for “Saitama Virtual Tourism Ambassador,” a VTuber who will boost tourism in the prefecture, since July 2021. After web voting by viewers and a selection committee of experts, Kasukabe Tsukushi, a 17-year-old girl who lives in the virtual Saitama, was appointed as the first ambassador at the Saitama 150th-anniversary event held on Saitama Citizens’ Day, November 14.
Tsukushi started her virtual YouTube activities in February 2018, and her official YouTube channel has attracted 41,200 registered viewers. She is working with the goal of making Saitama Prefecture more familiar and a heartland of people. She has collaborated with many companies in the prefecture, including a collaboration with Jumangoku Manju (a Japanese confectionery produced and sold by Jumangoku Fukusaya, a confectionery manufacturer in Gyoda City) and original stamps sold mainly at post offices in the prefecture.
She will act as a tourism ambassador to promote the charms of Saitama Prefecture, including the production of tourism videos to promote the attractions of the prefecture’s sightseeing spots and prefectural products. She has posted a message video below:
