#Josh Brolin wanted ‘to be in the center’ of Will Smith slap

“Josh Brolin wanted ‘to be in the center’ of Will Smith slap”

Josh Brolin was one of the many shocked audience members at the Dolby Theater at the Oscara 2022 ceremony last month when Will Smith slapped Chris Rock on stage.

The 54-year-old actor explained why he wanted to be involved in the smackdown mess in a recent interview on Dax Shepard’s podcast “Armchair Expert.”

“I was at the Oscars and I couldn’t stop pacing — because part of me wanted to be in the center of it,” Brolin said.

“I wanna know who the f–k [is] at fault,” the “Avengers: Endgame” star continued. Alas, Brolin had to make due with getting groped — alongside his “Dune” co-star Jason Momoa — by Oscars host Regina Hall, 51, in a bit some critics later slammed as “sexist.”

Meanwhile, podcast host Shepard, 47, went on to share a tale of a time when he saw an actor going on a wild rant on set, a situation which resonated with his guest.

Brolin replied, “I’ve always thought that like especially coming from trauma – parental trauma, childhood trauma, whatever that is – kids will do one of two things, and it’s the same energy.”

“They’ll either emulate it to try and understand why it was the way it was, or they’ll do the opposite, right, and they’ll live this kind of holy existence, that’s also totally unhealthy because it’s exactly the same energy,” the “Milk” actor said.

Brolin also recently opened up about why he wasn’t cast as Batman in director Zack Snyder’s iteration of the DC hero.

“It would have been the older, the more raspy, for lack of a better word,” Brolin noted on MTV’s “Happy Sad Confused” podcast earlier this month, explaining how his take would have differed from Ben Affleck’s portrayal in 2016’s “Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice” and 2017’s “Justice League.”

The father of four added that the idea was “interesting” to him and said that the choice to instead hire Affleck, 49, wasn’t his choice, but the “300” filmmaker’s.

“Honestly, that would have been a fun deal,” Brolin stated. “And maybe I’ll do it when I’m 80.”

In the same episode, the “True Grit” star claimed he was in “early talks” to star as the lead in “Jurassic World,” the role that ultimately went to Chris Pratt.

“‘Jurassic World,’ with all respect to Steven [Spielberg], I could not picture me doing it,” Brolin said. “I could not picture me being that guy. And I’m very, very happy based on my decision of what Chris [Pratt] does with it, because I think Chris is the right guy.”
