The Democratic National Committee cut language calling for an end to gas and oil subsidies and tax breaks from its final party platform, according to a report.

The statement “Democrats support eliminating tax breaks and subsidies for fossil fuels, and will fight to defend and extend tax incentives for energy efficiency and clean energy” was included in the platform in July and approved, the HuffPost reported Tuesday.

But it was missing from the final draft circulated on Monday, the report said.

A DNC spokesperson told the website that it was “incorrectly included” and removed after the “error was discovered.”

Former Vice President Joe Biden, who was officially named as the Democratic presidential nominee at the Democratic National Convention on Tuesday night, and his running mate, Sen. Kamala Harris, supported ending the subsidies during campaign appearances during the primary election.

Activists blasted the DNC for removing the language from the final draft.

“This is ridiculous,” Collin Rees, a campaigner with the nonprofit Oil Change U.S., told the HuffPost. “This is a commonsense position held by both Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. … The DNC should immediately include it in the platform.”
