“#Trump offers condolences for Sean Connery, claims Bond actor helped him”
“The legendary actor, 007 Sean Connery, has past on to even greener fairways. He was quite a guy, and a tough character,” the president wrote about the star of the James Bond movies who died Saturday at 90.
“I was having a very hard time getting approvals for a big development in Scotland when Sean stepped in and shouted,’Let him build the damn thing’. That was all I needed, everything went swimmingly from there,” the president added. “He was so highly regarded & respected in Scotland and beyond that years of future turmoil was avoided.”
“Sean was a great actor and an even greater man. Sincere condolences to his family!,” Trump said of Connery, a Scot who played Bond in six movies.
Trump didn’t say which of his two golf resorts he owns in Scotland Connery stepped in to help.
But the British press reported that Trump told then-Prime Minister Theresa May during a visit to Britain that Connery helped him win approval to build his Turnberry golf course in Scotland.
