#Here are all the cornerbacks drafted after Deandre Baker

The Giants made it official on Tuesday: they cut troubled cornerback Deandre Baker.

As he faces four counts of armed robbery stemming from a May 13 arrest, Baker has officially become a wasted draft pick from GM Dave Gettleman. Baker was taken 30th overall in the 2019 NFL Draft out of the University of Georgia, and in the following 16 picks, six cornerbacks were drafted.

Below are the players the Giants could’ve wound up with instead:

No. 33 Byron Murphy Jr.

Like Baker, the 5-foot-11 Murphy struggled on the field as a rookie, being thrust into a major role with the Cardinals due to injuries. He still wound up with 10 passes defensed, an interception and 78 tackles as a starter. And this year, with a possible return to his natural position as a slot corner, there are high hopes for him in the desert.

No. 34 Rock-Ya Sin

The 6-foot corner was named to the Pro Football Focus All-Rookie team after starting 13 games for the Colts. He improved as the season went on, producing a 76.1 coverage grade and allowing only a 67.7 passer rating after Week 9.

No. 39 Sean Murphy-Bunting

Another rookie who was thrown in the fire, Murphy-Bunting started 10 games for the Buccaneers. He appeared in all 16 contests and put up strong numbers: three interceptions, eight passes defensed and 44 tackles. PFF rated him as its fifth-best rookie cornerback.

No. 40 Trayvon Mullen

There were bright spots, but also tough moments for Mullen. Like most rookies, he flashed potential, but lacked consistency in his first season with the Raiders. Mullen had two games that earned him a PFF grade above 80.0, but also three games with a rating below 50.0 after being thrust into a starting role following the in-season trade of Gareon Conley.

No. 45 Joejuan Williams

Williams rarely saw the field for the Patriots, appearing in just nine games and making five tackles. He was also arrested Jan. 17 in Nashville and charged with drug possession after being stopped for allegedly speeding. Early on, this looks like a whiff.

No. 46 Greedy Williams

He got experience, starting 12 games for the Browns, and that shouldn’t be discounted. He does have a long way to go – he didn’t log a single interception and struggled with tackling in the open field. He didn’t allow a touchdown, though, which was one major positive.
