#Patrick Mahomes wants Chiefs to be NFL’s first 20-0 team

Following his Super Bowl loss to Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Patrick Mahomes has set his sights on establishing an NFL record Brady was unable to attain with the New England Patriots.

With the NFL expanding to a 17-game regular season, Mahomes wants his Kansas City Chiefs to become the first team in league history to complete a perfect season with 20 victories and a Super Bowl title.

Brady and the Pats fell one game short of a perfect 19-0 season when they lost to the Giants in Super Bowl 42.

“The only record I have my eyes set on breaking, which would be new this year, would be going 20-0,” Mahomes told Bleacher Report. “It’s not really a record to be broken I guess you would say — 19-0 is the record right now — so being able to go 20-0 and being the first one to do that, that would be awesome.”

The only perfect season in NFL history actually remains the 1972 Miami Dolphins, who finished 17-0 following a 14-game regular season.

Mahomes, 25, has posted a 44-10 career record – including 6-2 in postseason play. The Chiefs won Super Bowl 54 over the 49ers following the 2019 season before losing to Brady and the Bucs, 31-9, in February.
