#Optoma’s New Projector Has a Higher Refresh Rate Than Your Fancy Gaming Rig – Review Geek

Why buy a gaming TV or monitor when you can get a gaming projector? Optoma’s new UHZ50 projector features 4K resolution, HDR support, a 16ms response time, and a peak brightness of 3,000 lumens (perfect for daytime use). And when you activate its Enhanced Gaming mode at 1080p resolution, you get a fantastic 240Hz refresh rate with a 4ms response time.

The new UHZ50 is similar to Optoma’s CinemaX P2 ultra short throw projector, though it has a much more traditional form-factor, a higher 2,500,000:1 contrast ratio, and built-in 10-watt speakers instead of a built-in soundbar. Oh, the UHZ50 also costs less than Optoma’s CinemaX P2, so it’s a great option for gamers who want to choose their own speakers, screen size, and other factors.

Setting up the Optoma UHZ50 should be fairly easy thanks to its warping capabilities, four corner correction, keystone settings, and vertical lens shift. The projector also features three HDMI 2.0 ports (one with eARC for external speakers) and two USB ports for local media files. That said, it doesn’t come with any smart TV software.

You can now order the Optoma UHZ50 through participating retailers. Optoma says that the projector should have a street price of around $2,8000—that’s a pretty competitive price compared to what LG, JVC, and Samsung ask for their projectors.
