#Visions Anime Shorts Coming September 22, Details Revealed

During the “Star Wars: Visions” panel at Anime Expo Lite, it was revealed that Star Wars: Vision will be an anthology of short anime videos by various anime studios including Kamikaze Doga, Geno Studio, Studio Colorido, TRIGGER, Kinema Citrus, Science SARU, and Production I.G. The anime shorts are scheduled for release on September 22 on Disney+.

A sneak peek was revealed from each studio, including concept art and the general idea behind each short anime video.

Studio Kamikaze Dōga will be producing the short “The Duel” that features a black-and-white animation style, a ronin with a red lightsaber, a droid with a hat, and thematical pitches from Jinbo and the 7 Samurai. The founder of Kamikaze Dōga, Junpei Mizusaki, will be directing “The Duel.”

Geno Studio will be producing “Lop & Ocho” that pays homage to the Japanese word wabi-sabi about accepting beauty and its imperfections through transience. The short will feature the notorious Empire as an encroaching industry on a planet and a humanoid bunny-girl as the main character.

Studio Colordio will be diving into “rock operas” through its short “Tatooine Rhapsody” that includes established environments from the Star Wars prequels and original trilogies, and characters like Boba Fett and Jabba the Hut.

TRIGGER will be working on two short anime called “The Twins” and “The Elder.” Hiroyuki Imahishi will be directing “The Twins,” which is about the descent of two siblings into the dark side. Meanwhile, Masahiko Otsuka is directing “The Elder” to describe the relationship between a Jedi Master and his Padawan, and the passing of the baton to the next generation of Jedi.

Kinema Citrus will be producing the short “The Village Bride” that features a fallen Jedi observing the wedding night of a young bride who vows to save her people. Kevin Penkin will also be composing the music for this short.

Science SARU’s “Akakiri” will be directed by Euyoung Choi to feature a story between a Jedi Knight and their princely charge. Meanwhile, the studio’s other short, “T0-B1,” will be directed by Abel Góngora and detail the journey of a droid who dreams about becoming a Jedi.

Production IG will be working on “The Ninth Jedi” and be directed by Kenji Kamiyama (director of Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex). “The Ninth Jedi” is going to feature a dual story about the daughter of a legendary lightsaber smith who is tasked to deliver her father’s works to a client, and eight legendary warriors who do not trust each other.
