Ahead of his final trap album Dope Don’t Sell Itself’s release, 2 Chainz paid a visit to the L.A. Leakers on Wednesday (February 2) to puncture a classic instrumental with rapid-fire bars.
Chainz hand-picked The Pharcyde’s 1993 “Passin’ Me By” beat to rap over where he touched on the NFL putting him in a commercial, lacing his team with brand new watches for Christmas, his car collection, and pump-faked a The Weeknd feature.
“See Toni gon’ pop it/Toni gon’ stop it/Christmas time Toni bought everyone watches/Toni a prophet/Toni obnoxious/Toni got 1’s with the Nike sign ostrich,” he raps.
The smooth three-minute speed burst freestyle sets the stage for Dope Don’t Sell Itself‘s arrival on Friday (February 4). The Drench God’s seventh studio album was preceded by a pair of singles in “Million Dollars Worth of Game” featuring 42 Dugg and the Moneybagg Yo-assisted “Pop Music.”
Look for special guests to fill the gaps of the project with verses from Lil Baby, Roddy Ricch, NBA YoungBoy, Lil Durk, Swae Lee, Jacquees, Beatking, Sleepy Rose, Stove God Cooks, Symba and Major Myjah across the 12-track effort.
Following the release of Dope Don’t Sell Itself, 2 Chainz will be turning his attention to finishing ColleGrove 2 with Lil Wayne. The Atlanta native previously teased that the joint project would arrive later this year.
“This one is definitely coming out this year,” he proclaimed. “We’re actually in the process of mixing it and [Lil Wayne’s] on every single song.”
